The Innovation Workshop within the International Conference on Laser, Plasma, and Radiation – Science and Technology (ICLPR-ST), organized by the National Institute for Laser, Plasma, and Radiation Physics (INFLPR), is a dissemination event for technological development activities undertaken between research institutes and companies with innovation activities from Romania and abroad. The project mainly brings together the institute partners from the National Platform for Semiconductor Technologies (PNTS) Project – SMIS Code 351364, Contract no. G 2024-85828/390008/27.11.2024, which has the general objective of revitalizing the national ecosystem in the field of semiconductor technologies. It focuses on research and development, innovation, and technology transfer associated with the semiconductor value chain, leading to the creation of innovative products and services.

The workshop will also attract researchers from INFLPR and their industrial partners, who will present activities developed within research projects focused on innovation, such as PED (Experimental Demonstration Project), PTE (Transfer Project to Economic Operator), and POC (Competitiveness Operational Programme) on various topics of innovative development and technology transfer.

The purpose of the event is to create a network of researchers, laboratories, and economic partners, starting with the dissemination of the capabilities of the infrastructures they manage/work in, the know-how acquired in innovation activities, and the success stories of institute-industry collaborations.

To this end, CEOs/presidents of companies with innovation activities will present their firms’ field of activity, areas of expertise, and interests, while research representatives will disseminate research activities undertaken together with these companies to achieve the objectives of the PNTS, PED, PTE, and POC projects.

The event will also feature formal and informal communication opportunities among participants, as well as a round table to debate the most important topics related to current and future funding opportunities, the creation of innovation clusters, and the identification of new innovation directions of interest to both institutes and companies.

Through such events, participants aim to create collaboration networks for:

• forming a nucleus of skills;
• developing appropriate technological resources and capacities;
• developing skills and expertise in using new capabilities — RDI (Research, Development, and Innovation) activities;
• education, training, and development of experts, specialists, and process operators;
• technology transfer through collaboration with private partners co-opted into the consortium;
• securing intellectual property and scientific and technical dissemination.
